When I am looking I look on Jobserve and have all the alerts set up from CWjobs, Jobsite, ITJob board, Technojobs, Planet Recruit etc, and I also use the Agency directory on Jobserve to trawl the Agency Websites and post an updated CV and view jobs etc, I also refresh my IProfile CV and that seems to get a few calls also.
Not the best time of year to be looking but there seems to be a bit about, keep plugging away and work the agents once you have submitted a CV, follow up with a call, as this may well get you put forward for a role that you wouldn't have, had you sat on your arrse and waited for them to call.
Good luck.

At the very least research the market, buy the books and start reading, then go after the lower end of the market for your chosen specialism (not a difficult step if you're a helpdesk support bod).
Contractor self-pity really irritates me...
(and don't bother pointing out you're a soon to-be ex-employee - I was there 10 years ago...)

Thanks guys. Damn I better get my CV checked - my grammar is bad all the time. I should give it until late January before I get a new job if I am lucky. I have to get past the interview too.
I wish I had studied or taken some courses.
(sorry couldn't resist reformatting that...)
Try putting your CV onto monster.co.uk. Bizarrely I am getting more calls from agents from my CV being on monster than I am from Jobserve - and I got a 2-week gig before Xmas from that too, allowing my to fill up what was an embarrasing two months trying to start a hairbrained business idea.
Also now that you have some spare time you have time to do some studying and take some MCSE or other exams. Jump to it lad!

I only ever use Jobserve when I am looking, however all my work has come through contacts and personal recommendation.
It is going to be quiet at this time of year for your line of work so I don't think that is anything unusual.
All the permies in London are hanging on to get their bonuses. Once they have been paid in Jan or Feb then expect there to be an explosion of movement and contractors will be required to fill the gaps.
You have set aside money to cover a period without a contract haven't you?
Your CV is more grammatically correct than your posts on here I hope.Otherwise that might be causing you problems.

Alternative website for applying?
What are some alternative sites/forums to use to find jobs my contract ends now and i am facing a bleak nye as unemployment is on the cards 100percent
I have applied to cwjobs, jobsite and jobserve but so far only had the 1 phone call between the 18th december and 28th decemeber.
I am not very skilled so i tend to apply for helpdesk or desktop support roles since thats what i can do quite well, clearly this is the worst time of the year to apply as most ppl are on holiday and out of office.
Any recommendation's?
Contracting appeals to me as i made double what i did as a permie the year before hehe and managad to get a mortgage and rent out my house.
Now im tulipting myself about fininf a job in Central London esp wil doom and gloom reported.
What otehr sites do users here use ?
Also does anyone work in Investment Banking, i would love the chance to support in there but i think intiailly speaking its very hard to get in?Tags: None
