Modis contract

It's the first contract I've had demanding the various insurances. I'll have to read all those old threads on insurance now so as not to upset Malvolio by asking the same old questions.

Does it say you must have them when the contract starts or just be able to show certificates on demand?

I'm PCG thru and thru, honest ! However see the blurb below, sounds like the same as the PCG cover in theory. They have another product for covering tax losses.

Freelancer Tax Protection includes:

1. Qdos representation and attendance in the event of a PAYE compliance review

2. Insurance of fees up to £50,000 incurred representing you in defence of:

An IR35 dispute
A PAYE/NIC dispute
A VAT dispute
A HM Revenue & Customs aspect enquiry
A HM Revenue & Customs full enquiry
A Section 660A dispute

No it isn't, and QDOS haven't been PCG suppliers for a while.

PCG doesn't do tax protection insurance, it gives you free professioanl representation in the event of an IR35 inquiry (Standard) or any PAYE inquiry (PCGPlus)... just like it says on the tin. Anything other than that level of insurance these days, no matter who it's from, is quite probably a waste of money.

No it isn't, and QDOS haven't been PCG suppliers for a while.

Yes and it was fine. But standard terms may have changed in last 6 months so don't rely on this post as it being ok. QDOS will review 3 per year if you join their contractor club (about £35) cheapest review I have found.

Just having a gander at the website, maybe I'll give them a call. It looks like a 'lighter' review than the 85 quid job but enough to show you've made efforts to ensure you are outside IR35 !? The Qdos Freelancer Tax Protection at 99 quid sounds cheap, is that the same policy as via PCG+ !? Infact you can waste quite a bit of money insuring yourself against anything and everything on that website !

Has anybody had a standard Modis contract IR35 reviewed ? It looks pretty good to me. The substitution clause in there is different to previous contracts I've had but there is one that contains wording to the effect that a substitute must be suitably qualified and have reasonable experience.
