Thanks for the advice. Decided to wait until I've finished here and then have a couple of weeks holiday. Will start again when I get back.

Depends who you use, and how much you're willing to pay!Originally posted by 2ukIs it 5 days the standard IR35 Review process ? At some point you need to communicate to the agent that there will be up to 5 days delay before you sign it. This can be tricky when they want u ASAP .

That's their problem, they should use realistic contracts. However, B&C have turned them round in 12 hours before now.Originally posted by 2ukIs it 5 days the standard IR35 Review process ? My advice is to not even start looking until you have finished (apart from a bit of general keeping an eye on the market). It means you will be able to properly devote time to searching and telephoning agents (on your own time not the clients). Plus you are then available for immediate start and can go to interviews at a moments notice. You'll also avoid having to do telephone interviews in the corridoor etc..Originally posted by crimdonMy first contract is just over half way through nw with 6 weeks to go. As I don't want to renew, I was stating ot think about getting my next gig.
I'm looking at core dba roles pretty much anywhere in the UK but when I've told agents I'm not free until August, they've not been interested.
Wats the usual lead time (with interviews etc) on getting a contract? This one only took me a week but wheile I was looking, I had a coupleof others on the go and they seemed to be dragging on over 2 or 3 weeks.

How about four months...? 'Cos that's how long I've been looking, although I'm not in a routine technical skillset.
Agencies will have 100 people available immediately for any non-specialist role, so if you aren't you're of no interest. Start looking about two weeks out and you'll be in with a chance. But be aware that downtime will happen, keep some money aside for it.
