I'd say that sounds low - looking at some of the rates that IT jobs watch gives for Oracle, the ones I would look at seem lower than I would expect. Maybe I'm just picky, but £388 for "Oracle Applications Technical Consultant" is nowhere near where I would expect to see the market.

Fine, those are industry averages so cater for people working at DVLA at Swansea as well as those in Canary Wharf hedge funds. Still say the OP will struggle to beat £500 even working there.

Doubt it somehow, outside some specialist areas within investment banking and similar people. And you sure as hell won't get that kind of rate as a newbie contractor, no matter how good your permie experience, since you won't have any kind of history.

However the problem is what you see on jobserve may not be what you get in real life. So just thought to check if there are any Contracting DBAs on this forum. I've heard that contractors in Oracle Apps having good implementation experience makes 750 a day. is it really true?

What is the average rate for a Oracle Apps DBA in and around London or Reading? I'm looking at moving into contracting and want an idea of what to ask for when contacting agencies.
