yes the only genuinely good hotel on the whole island is the Hilton
Not true, the Grand Excelsior and Phoenicia both overlooking the Grand Harbour in Valletta are quite impressive and I've stayed in some beautiful air bnb apartments too
Hyatt Regency has recently opened in St Julians but haven't stayed there yet.
Even the mere mention of "Malta" should be enough to put one off, let alone the fact that Malta is home to the majority of the current tax scams. A Maltese 5* hotel is in fact a a 3* if you're lucky. Stay well clear.

Accommodation in Malta is expensive. I have a mate who lives there (last 7 years) and is currently working in gaming. It's a young persons game - daft hours, tulip money but it's a laugh and an experience.

Yes, I’m leaning towards pulling away from this one. The money isn’t good enough for me to go my own way and I have the same reservations as those mentioned in the posts above.
But, every once in a while I’ll take one of these kinds of roles that involve working in a slightly more exotic location. Just because.
Depending on the duration, it's not a bad place to be for a few months if you've got the right kind of passport that allows you stay.
I'm going to Malta, and will be staying in Valetta, in a couple of weeks. If you know where the apartment block is, PM me the address and I'll take a wander past and take a few photos of it and the surrounding area for you.
Whilst I wouldn't mind accommodation being provided, it would need to be of a decent standard, I wouldn't want to be forced to share with anyone and would want to be sure that outside of normal working hours I will be left alone.
