If you have decided to come to the UK to work deregister in Canada and work through a UK Ltd company or umbrella. There are no legal alternatives, and you certainly can't use your Canadian company.

You pay the tax where you earn the money i.e. the UK.

If you are outside Canada for more than half the tax year you will only pay income tax on your CAnada income.

  • Dual Citizen (Canadian & Uk) returning to Uk to do contracts

    Hi everyone,

I do contracts under my Canadian Corporation and looking to return to UK to contract in the financial sector for 12 to 18 months. I was told that recruiters in UK will want me to register a Ltd Corporation in Uk to bill the client? Canadian Corp tax is 15% and UK is 19% im assuming i pay UK corp tax?. Payroll I would pay UK income tax?. I would need to declare all income earned outside of Canada to Canada Revenue Agency if they deem me as a resident of Canada. But based on my time outside Canada if they deem me as a non-resident then I don't declare?. Is anyone in my circumstance? I would greatly appreciate advice

    Thanks!

    Sanjay
