You are thinking too literally. First thing you do when he offers a list is go research and get one you want. Offer that up. At that point he'll either fold or stick to his guns. If he sticks to his guns you fold. At least you tried and came in prepared. So it's great advice. So you don't lose the gig at all.

I do know we've had posts where people have folded to an agent but we've had them where the poster got his way. I'd be very surprised if agents are running models where they could potentially lose the best candidate chosen by the client just because they are on a kick back from a brolly. That's a pretty poor working model. Clients won't be happy with that at all.

He will take the person most likely to do a good job, deliver and get an extension. I'd expect the kickback from the brolly is peanuts compared to the money coming in from the client so only an idiot would be messing about with this.

IMO it won't make a difference.

TBH as well if the agent does offer you some brolly options you should turn them all down and go find yourself a better one.

Umbrella or Ltd

Hi
I'm new to the forum and am looking to go contracting.
I already have a ltd company (about 3 years) which I use to do a little bit work for someone I know.

Does anyone know what the agencies thought process would be if they had 2 candidate:-
Candidate 1: Working through a LTD company
Candidate 2: Does not have a limited and requires an umbrella company

Is the agency likely to favour Candidate 2 because as well as taking a cut from the hourly rate they can also make something by offering umbrella services?

Any newbie tips much appreciated.
