I applied through a board and also got emailed by Elevate with the same big legal looking doc. I figured that if they were happy to run legal rings around me just to apply, I probably couldn't trust them to be fair in a real gig, so I hit delete and didn't bother pursuing that one.

Thanks, it felt off.. Be interesting to see if they end up contacting me directly anyway...!

From a quick look it's a contract between you, them and possibly a third party for using their portal.
Personally if it's proper contract work you want to do I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

This was originally via one of the big sites like that, sent application through, then email comes from agency with 'finish your application' link. That site then wants a tick against 'I agree to the contractor agreement'.
Doesn't feel quite right tbh. looks much more than just some website t&c or even data protection.

Never used anything like that to be honest. Everything I've ever found has been via networking or jobserve.

Web applicant portal 'contract' as part of role enquiry / application?
Hi all,
Had a look in 1st timers and guide to contracts, and had a bit of a search and not finding anything on this. Apologies if I've missed it...
Totally new to contracting, haven't even set up my Ltd yet as I've still got a bit of notice so accountants I spoke to said no need yet and would just be a waste of their fees as I wouldn't be trading yet
There's a contract of interest which I've applied to via one of the big job sites just as a bit of a punt really, and for 'practice', and cos well why not!. The application has then pushed me through to a specific agency application portal which is asking me to agree to a 'contractor agreement' before I can complete the application.
Looking at it, to my untrained eye I'm not sure quite what I'm actually signing up to. So I ain't touched it with a barge pole yet!!
Not expecting a legal review etc, but would appreciate knowing if this sort of thing is fairly 'normal', and does it warrant me getting a lawyer to review? Or am I going overkill and it's just standard stuff, not a real contract cos I'm not signing it etc?
