They are going to wonder why you want one week notice.
Only ever got that in once. Agent and client knew the rate was beyond crap - but the clients hands were tied. It was NHS.
I agreed to do short-term with one week notice. They knew the score. Ended up staying full 3 months in the end. Nice place to work but that rate.....

The agency (She is the owner and only employee of her own business) is trying to protect her self, I guess.
The client is a big media company and I have been told that most people there are on the same contract, so I guess I can utilise my first weeks notice period (1 weeks notice) if things do not go according to plan...
or I could refuse to accept anything other than a 1 week notice period and 1 month pay roll...

My contracts are typically 1-week notice. 1-month is definitely not the norm (for me).
The last contract came through stating 4 weeks notice. I said change it to 1 week. Agent: oh but client has asked for 2 weeks. Me: well do that then!
Later on renewal it appeared that client standard terms were in fact 1 week.
Seemed to me a blatant attempt by the agent to protect their own revenue stream.

Did you ask them or tell them? You reasons for asking are kind of the reason they will say no.
You have been lucky with the payroll then. 1 month is very common. I don't expect they will budge on that at all. As long as the agency isn't going to go under it's not an unreasonable timescale.Last edited by northernladuk; 29 May 2015, 08:09.

1 months Notice on a 3 Months Contract....
I have been contracting for the past 5 years and have had over 6 different contracts which all had 1 weeks notice to leave, if required.
I have just been offered a 3 month contract with a 1 months notice!
The start date is Monday however I also have an interview for a perm role this afternoon which is a role that I am far more interested in.
I know that with the perm role it is a 1 stage interview and they are interviewing for 2 weeks and then will make a decision.
Is there a way I can get the agency to change the notice period to 1 week?
They also have 1 month pay role and again I have always been used to 1 week...Tags: None
