Once you have done that make up a reason why you have to leave current client early and go.

In my experience, if client is not offerring an extension, they usually say 'if you find something, we'll let you go earlier.' I pressume this client hasnt said that (or hasnt been told extension not being taken up even if offerred)?
I dont agree with this stuff that its ok to leave at short notice for personal reasons family illness etc but not if you have another job lined up. Sorry that's just inconsistent bulltulip by some people. You're either ok leaving on short notice or not, full stop.
People talk about looking for the next contract 4 to 6 weeks before the current one ends and expect people to give up on a new role that requires a start in 1 week during this 'search period'? What sort of nonsense is that? Tell you what it is, more inconsistent nonsense, that's what.
Myself, I didnt have a problem leaving early especially if it means the next client wont wait. Sure you have to weigh up if client will have you back but weighing up whether you're going to have no income for god knows how long should trump that.

New gig on table. Much better, longer, more money.
But its dependant on week start. What to do?
Client may be OK with week or I may have to say tough I'm off.
Not ideal. What u all reckon?

No deadlines. This is bau ir35 unfriendly support. They'll just be one person down.

Prob be inconvenient for current client while they get someone else. not end of world.

Especially if you aren't planning to stay with the current client why not just raise it with them and see? Will it leave them in the lurch if you leave with the contract un-finished?

Presumably you knew this caveat [i.e. you're needed in a week] when you accepted the interview?

In any case unpleasant contracts seem to be PCs specialty, so hardly a problem.
