I don't blame them. It's the better option for the US hands down. Why would you not want to get a trade deal with the EU, giving you access to biggest economic block?

The uk is quickly becoming the annoying classmate that nobody wants at their party.

Brexit US Trade Talks Put on Hold

Despite Trump saying that the UK would be first in the queue for a trade deal once we'd left the EU, what he seemed to mean was that we'd be at the back of the queue. There aren't going to be any trade talks anytime in the foreseeable future as the US government has decided to pursue talks with the EU instead.
