They are not being constructive, because there is nothing to construct. The fact is that in order to respect the GFA and the multiple commitments on both sides in recent years to preserve it NI must remain in the CU and CM.

So the UK have 2 options - A) remain in the CU&CM in it's entirety or B) only keep the NI in them. Both options deliver Brexit, with the added benefit of it being softer Brexit that would appease the majority of the 16m+ who voted remain.

The problem is that ERG is against option A, while the DUP is against option B and the Tories are cnuts, only interested in their internal politics and not what's good for the country.

Everything that Boris has been doing since he took over as a PM is damage control, laying the grounds to shift blame to Parliament if no-deal Brexit is delayed or to the EU if no-deal Brexit happens and it's as bad as every expert including the Government's own civil service is saying.

The only reason we haven't already left is because Parliament, including the ERG and DUP, consistently voted against May's deal. If they had supported it we would have been out by now. Not the EU's fault.

But it is easy to leave. The U.K. handed in its A50 notice, and is free to walk at any time.

Other countries don’t have the NI issue to worry about, so in theory it should be even easier for them.

The fly in your ointment is that other countries see the downsides of the EU but also consider that the upsides outweigh them. It’s an inconvenient fact, but a fact nonetheless.
