    It is definitely humiliating for the UK.
    They’ll extend it if there is a defined period for a defined purpose. Based on the dates, an extension is already definitely required if the WA passes Parliament, due to the amount of time required to review and pass the supporting legislation.

    They won’t extend it if the purpose is to renegotiate anything. That would open up the EU to all sorts of shenanigans from other third countries that it has agreements with (“if the UK can open their agreement to try to get better terms, why can’t we”)

    So there it is the EU aren't going to make any concessions, why should they. The UK can have an extension of whatever duration they like or sign the deal.
