There are more than 750 agreements with over 168 countries, enjoyed because of EU membership, however the government has confirmed that none of the 168-odd countries have given “clear agreement” to roll over any deals and that there is no date set for asking them to do so. Regardless of the type of Brexit the UK ends up with, there is very little time to ensure these third countries with which they have agreements are happy to roll them over.
Recently Theresa May crowed about the agreements with six African nations however this was all a bit of propaganda as, if you read the small print, the agreement is not “legally binding” and is “without prejudice” to any changes those countries might demand before it was.Tags: None
