Obviously I do things in the other direction. Amazon.de have developed processes where they add a nominal charge to cover the import taxes. If they over estimate they automatically refund to your credit card. If they under estimate, they take the loss themselves.

The odd thing is that it shouldn’t be that difficult for the government to work the cost out.Originally posted by GreenMirror View PostOne can hope the duties imposed will be enormous.
The tariff schedules being proposed are essentially a copy and paste of the EU schedules. A Treasury wonk should be able to use the import stats from ONS for imports by country (EU) and by sector, cross-reference that against the proposed tariffs, and work out pretty much exactly what it will cost.
Businesses should be able to individually do roughly the same, and know what their extra costs will be (on top of the 20% cash flow change from VAT).
I suspect that the Treasury has already done this and it will be in the briefing papers being released starting this week, softening us all up to go for the Chequers deal instead.

Have ordered a few goods from Switzerland over the years that are received here in Munich. Delivery is not complete until I pay the import tax there and then. So what some might say? It was a meaningful amount of money each and every time.
Only a few are prepared for what's to come.

Over two years in, and the Torygraph has only now learned that leaving the EU means that other EU member states will be third parties.British businesses will be required to treat EU nations as "third countries" in the event of a no deal Brexit, declaring all imports from the continent and paying customs duties, The Daily Telegraph has learned.
