Well that's good knowledge, thank you muchly. Didn't know SJD was owned by Simon Dolan!

SJD (if it's them) have a sister company based in Brighton, if you stay with SJD for your IT business (or tranfer the business to them at no cost) they can deal with your other business appropriately. And will negotiate good rates if you try. I’m using them for my two other businesses.

Speak to SJD. Simon Dolan who owns it is doing very well in the European Le Mans in an LMP2 car. Obviously just because he is it doesn't go to say the accountant you are allocated will know his/her arse from his/her elbow but they may be able to ask Simon for some advice, you never know.

Simon posts on here and does read his PM's from time to time so why not drop him a note.

Maybe just a general practice accountant would be better for you as they tend to a wide variety of clients. It would probably be more expensive though as most will charge based on time rather than a fixed fee.

I'm surprised that your current accountant can't handle it though - to us it's just numbers regardless of the underlying trade, with some research into the specific tax aspects (if any) of that trade.

Accountant with Motorsport understanding - Recommendations?

    I'm new here, be forgiving!

I'm a contractor and have been for 5 years - all throughout I have used a well-known contracting accountant, who, although good value, I am getting a bit frustrated with.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good accountant who understands both the contract world and motorsport? I am planning to set up a motorsport business in addition to my contracting work.

I'm kent-based (nr Sevenoaks) but could easily have a London-based accountant as I spend most of my time there.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.
