I work for a UK company from overseas. I invoice them from my Swiss company, they pay me. As I am not resident for tax purposes in the UK, I do not pay any tax to HMRC, nor have any dealings with them.

I use forex.com for my currency transfers.

I shall probably take you up on this offer for some specialist advice once my employer 100% confirms the situation and my partner gets her Visa. I am under the impression such advice is not cheap though
I hope you've researched living in sin in UAE carefully.

And if that raises more questions that it answers, then seek the help of a tax specialist in this area. We deal with a number of them - if you want some names and contact details PM me. Good luck!

    Working for UK from overseas

    Hi All,

Very sorry if this is a basic question. I'm a bit lost and not sure where to start reading. I am expecting to leave the UK in the next few months, and to keep working from overseas for my current employer, they've suggested it would be best to employ me as a contractor rather than standard PAYE on the company books.

I'll be moving to UAE, Dubai which is tax free. The company I work for are in the UK but also have a presence in UAE as well. I believe the intention would be for the UK region to pay me although I would like to try and find a way for the local region to pay me otherwise I'll have to keep converting my money and transfers etc. We plan to return to the UK in around 3 years.

I'm totally lost as to where I stand tax wise. If the company does pay me from the UK region, do I have to provide some kind of declaration, pay tax to the UK or is this all handled locally where I am resident?

To be a contractor, do I have to register a company? surely this wouldn't be recognised in the UAE though?

I'd be very grateful for any answers and suggestion of reading. It's all been a bit sudden and not really sure what I should be doing next.

    Thanks
Working...
