Should I offer to pay? Should I not charge the client for the time I'm doing the course?
I've asked this question in PCG. The answers were:

    Do 1.
    If NOT accepted then
    Do 2.

    Training

My client is organising some training courses for the employees, nothing too formal, just a few hour long courses with some slides as I understand it. I've assumed that it doesn't apply to me, but there's one course on a piece of equipment that I'm going to have to use at some point, so it would make sense for me to do this (and it would make sense for the client to train me to use it).

Where do I stand? Assuming the client is happy for me to join in, does this count as a benefit in kind and potentially cause me tax problems? Should I offer to pay? Should I not charge the client for the time I'm doing the course?

The specific one isn't likely to help me in any other role, but there are a couple of others that I wouldn't mind doing out of interest.
