It's fine, and you should be able to talk to CH about it without any trouble.

Dormant is supposed to mean there have been no significant accounting transactions but if you try and fill in the dormant form on Companies House it requires answers that are completely inappropriate, except to a company that has never traded at all. Made no sense.

PS I sent the DS_01 2 months back and never had to fill in last years accounts. Closure is all under way, in London Gazette etc. Don't forget to notify HMRC first, see prev CUK threads on co closure.

HMRC know it is is dormant, it is a shame the fine is just as large for dormant as non-dormant. Never mind - my fault for forgetting though.

As an aside, it may be cheaper to start a whole new company than pay the fine for overdue dormant accounts!

    Web Filing and Dormant company

    Hi,

I currently have a dormant company which has annual accounts (over)due. I am currently waiting on the webfiling code to arrive so I can enter online - but I would like to know whether dormant accounts need to be completed by an accountant? I am assuming as it is dormant I should just be able to enter lots of £0s into the various fields?

Thanks for the help on this rookie query.

Working...
