New shareholders
This page from BusinessLink should tell you most of what you need to know to make them a shareholder
On top of that you will have to tell Companies House that there is a new Director by filling in a form AP02
Be careful about making them a shareholder if it is not necessary as it will make everything much more complicated. By being a Director they will still be 'responsible' for the company (as would a Company Secretary to some extent).
If you want to discuss get into contact. I am an accountant and can be found on the Contractor UK list of accountants, as Caprica Online, here.
Mod note: I'll allow that indirect cheeky plug, but don't make a habit of it!

This was covered yesterday, have a search down the list a bit and see if you can see the post where this is being discussed at the moment. You accountant is always a good source of information as well.

Are you sure you have a PLC?
Also, don't conflate shareholders and directors - it is possible to be either without being the other.
Have you asked your accountant?
