I am not a fan of 'contractor' accountants. I've used 3 over the years and they have all been disappointing in the end. I include SJD in that list.
I have engaged a local accountant now as I prefer having face time with them. They just do my year end and I do the rest.
My point? Go and see the accountants you list, get a feel for them, their service level and their approach. Also call the contractor accountants and ask the same questions.

I too am with SJD, not the cheapest but the service has been second to none.

I am not a fan of local accountants and would recommend you go for one of the contractor specialists. I am with SJD and never need to meet and the easy to contact via mail/phone.
Here is a thread with an accumulation of other threads from people looking for accountants. Some of them are a little old so take that in to account. Hope it helps.

Hi all,
I need to find an accountant before I start my first proper contract. Can anyone recommend a good accountant in the Wimbledon area who can give useful advice to contracting newbies and do my company's accounting?
