While there are contract templates you can get from the internet (do a Google search for 'consultants agreement template uk'), I think you probably want to at least pay for the right advice up front the first time - then you can just use that contract when rolling forward. Possible sources are;
(1) Ask your client to see if they have one you can review - you may want to pay for an IR35 review first up anyway from the likes of Bauer and Cottrell so you get off on the right foot;
(2) Contract lawyer (UK) Roger Sinclair Egos Ltd gets mentioned a bit here - he could help you out;
(3) PCG is another good place;

Ahh verbal contracts aren't the greatest way to do business but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will bite you on the bum. Keep the relationship with the client friendly but remember that the sooner a proper contract is drafted and agreed the better.

There is a contract - it's called a gentlemen's agreement. This is entirely legal in England.

I've just started out in the IT contracting game (been in perm positions for around 10 years). Does anyone know of a good place to get templated legal contracts? Just started out on a recurring 3 month contract doing some .net and sql work but I'm not sure where to start on the contractuals. Any help is grealty appreciated!

You should consider joining the PCG, they have lots of good stuff including contract templates and they will get you sorted with insurance and legal advice etc if you need it too. Worth a look.
