    The cross could mean week1/month1 - instead of your tax being calculated on a cumulative basis it's being calculated as if this was week or month 1. This is usually only used in emergency situations as it doesn't take into account higher rates, and after HMRC have processed your P45/P46 they will issue a correct code (usually 647L unless there's benefits or expenses to adjust it).

    If you're unsure just give the tax office a call.

    If you're running your Ltd CO you will have been told your tax code via a Coding Notice. If you haven't been, then it hasn't changed. Mutiply 643 by 10 and you get your tax free allowance. L means you're a normal taxpayer. Neither will have changed recently.

    No idea what the Cross means though. "Does not understand PAYE" perhaps?

    I am a director of my one man company. Last year, on my P60 I find a Cross mark beside the tax code called 643L.

    Does any one know what that cross mark mean?

    Also, can some one help on how to find my correct tax code for the current running?
