I think the longest I've ever had to wait for a response to an email has been a day (when they had several people off sick) and any phone calls have always been answered immediately typically answered in that call or with a rapid call back if they need to look something up or check.
I'd certainly expect a same day response to everything other than a seriously esoteric question in normal circumstances.

I use a local accountant because as well as contract work I do some cross border stuff (North - South of Ireland). I have always had same day response to queries.
