Can I ask, do you have your own personal accountant that deals with all your queries?

Effectively yes. They are a smaller firm with (IIRC) 2 full partners, so you get personal attention from one of them. I email one of them (Clare) directly and normally get a personal response within a couple of hours.

I switched a few months ago and have been happy. The online portal is a little basic but does the job far better than messing about with spreadsheets, the price is good, and I;ve also enjoyed a great personal service... probably because are small I can expect a reply to email questions within a couple of hours from one of the directors which I prefer to blanket emails and quoting user numbers to anonymous phone teams.

I'd be happy to recommend you and get a free month (if they do such a thing), but I'd still recommend them even if you don't take my offer

Yes everything is done online. You enter your invoices, expenses, mileage and bank into their website.

There are great time savings because you upload the bank transactions from your electronic statement files which saves most of the typing. Also when you have recurring mileage or business expenses the website lets you copy them from previous months.

All the history is available online to view.

Because it took me several months to get my data when I left my old accountant I specifically asked about how I would get the data if I decided to leave. Their Managing Director Paul Gough told me that as members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants they observe standards of professional courtesy and always liaise with the other accountant to quickly provide the information that allows you to switch advisors.

The website is still a bit basic as they are a new company - but it already works really well for me - I always hated retyping everything into spreadsheets every month during a long contract!

What do other clients think?

You may want to have a look at FreeAgent Central. You pay a monthly fee for use of the software and own the account. You can find an accountant off their "FreeAgent" friendly accountant list that will usually include the software fees in their service.

I am fed up with my accountants.. so I am swapping.. anyone used Personal Online Accounting | Intouch Contractor Accounting ? they seem to offer a competitive price and they offer the services that my accountant offers as well..

For me I actually like having a spreadsheet that I can analyse when I need to - This does not seem to be available with Intouch
