Well I've waited the 12 days and the registered letter i sent t-mobile is still not declared as delievered, so i have no idea if they have it (What a pointless service recorded deliery is when this occurs). So have decided to take it out in personal name, get accounts filed and then try and transfer it into biz name in a month or 2.

Why wait 2 months - does it take that long for filed accounts to be published? Thought HMRC were moving towards an electronic and therefore presumably real-time way of working.

Made the personal order this morn - was on phone less than 10 mins and its due for delivery before 1pm tomorrow. I'm blown away by comparatively how easy this was!

Thanks for all your thoughts on this one!

I have done. 2 attempts via web and 2 hours in store, ultimately yelling at their staff

Seems they have 1 central credit check dept so more attempts probably just makes things look even more dodgy in their eyes.

Just because you claim it doesn't mean that it's what HMRC would allow as a business expense in an investigation. In fact, if there was an expenses audit, it would be disallowed.

HMRC guidelines are clear on mobile phones - just because you choose to ignore those guidelines does not make it "bollocks", though.

Far to much wishy washy scared of the taxman rubbish, he's going to go through my underwear drawer nonsense.

The OP says he's written to the companies twice to see what the problem is. Well there's your answer.

Because if it's a personal contract then you can't claim line rental, and can only claim business calls. If it's a business contract, then you can claim the whole bill.

    HTH.

I doubt HMRC would ever believe that a phone taken out on a personal contract is 100% used for business calls.
Really some people make it far too co
plicated for themselves. I have never ever heard of anyone being auditted and asked to go through their mobile phone records item by item.

Some people are so anal and afraid of what HMRC might say or do, I'm surprised that they have the bottle to leave the house in the morning.

What I did was phone their business phone call centre and discuss the possibilities with them, if I remember correctly the deal I struck was to pay them the first 300 up front and to agree to no roaming for the first 6 months of the contract.

    Odd.

The only things I can think off are:
    1. Lack of company credit card
    2. Lack of first year trading accounts

Though I'm surprised they didn't offer you a phone for a small deposit.

Personally I would see what the networks offer you company directly rather than going through a high street retailer.

started a topic Company credit - How?

    Company credit - How?

    Afternoon all.
Tried to buy a mobile phone on contract from major high street retailer a week ago. Went through both their internet and in-store sales channels and the outcome in both cases was being reffered and ultimately declined on basis of company credit check. Embarked on a palava to write to them in attempt to overturn the decision but in the meantime this experience has got me thinking....

Whats wrong here and what needs fixing?
    -Good personal credit rating.
-Company trading for ~18months but yet to file first years accounts.
-Bank account, chequebook, deffered debit card but no credit cards held.
-Registered address held at accountants, Trading address different.
    -No other known issues/debts etc.

Why does anyone ever want to lend to a ltd co? Surely the lender risks the company profits being widthdrawn and then closed down then having no-one to chase?

Working...
