Make sure you get paid in used fivers. In a brown envelope.

In that case, he is right. Payment occurs at the end. I suggest you do not accept any extensions.

That's best for IR35 and tax purposes anyway, probably.

If you are not happy, just phone in and say you have swine 'flu and don't go back. Phone up your last permie place and beg to be allowed back.

Nice idea, but it wont stop the sockpuppets posting more of these - "I've just signed a new contract but I'm not sure when it starts, or ends or even where it is or what I'm supposed to be doing yet.......and I'm not sure when or if i'm ever going to get paid and if I do will it be in cash, dog biscuits or moondust?....please help, I'm desperate to start this role so that 24 hours later I can start the obligatory "how the f*** do I get out of this contract that I didn't appear to read" thread?"............

I'm still waiting to see the contract but it should be sent to me soon. The agency said that payment is made only after the work is done. I'm sure I can trust him as he called me to request all my details before he placed me here.

    Read the contract.

The arrangements for payment will be in there.

(And you will NOT be getting cash in hand!)

    What does your contract say?

Ask for cash if you want : I suspect the agent might want something more traceable.
