    Ask yourself one question... With the exception of any materials you may receive, is training tangible? In other words... can you feel it or see it, and would someone else be able to use it once you have purchased it and used it? (I am sure there are exceptions to this rule, but am hoping you get the idea). If the answer is no, then the chances are that you cannot reclaim the VAT.

    However, if I am wrong, then I stand corrected.

    1. Google is your friend.
    2. HMRC can be your friend if you use the information provided to your advantage.

    Look at the Capital Assets section and look at the VAT Notice 733 for how the Flat Rate Scheme works.

    We are on the FRV scheme. I'm looking to book a 5 day training course and wondered if the VAT would be reclaimable?

    The training course is required for my current role.
