Assuming you work via a limited company your client should have no concerns and does not have to provide anything beyond what's in your contract. If the IR should "deem" you an employee, it is only you/your company that can be pursued for any extra tax.
If you are self employed that would be a different matter.

I think you are confused in your own mind also. Are you on a contract to provide a service or are you an employee (you use both interchangeably)?
As far as a genuine contract goes, there is no significance to one year. For employees there is.

quick legal question
just a quick question,
if a person has been in a contract for a year, is there any benefits the company he is employed at have to give? My current place are always a bit worried about taking contractors over a year for some reason and i have never come accross this before. Is there some kind of holiday entitlement or something?
