    While you are awaiting a response, have you noticed the links on the right? ---->

    Among them is the "Overseas Guides" which includes "IT Contracting in Ireland - Money and Tax" and "IT Contracting in Ireland - Living & Working".

    markd - Did anybody get back to you re: contracting in Ireland? I may have a contract in Ireland soon and would like to know about umbrella vs limited and tax implications for contracting in Ireland. Have to see if it works out better in Ireland or if I should stay in the UK so any help would be great!

    You don't have to pay tax in Ireland for the first six months. After six months you do.

    How do you work out paying less tax. The only tax that is less is corporation tax.

    Dividends are treated as normal income, and are taxed as such.

    Don't understand where the 'pay less tax' in Ireland myth comes from

    What is the most tax efficient method of invoicing the client;

    I've got a couple of options;

    1. keep the existing UK registered company, and invoice the Irish client from a UK base. Taxes would be remitted back to the UK, and I continue as normal.

    2. register a new Irish based company, invoicing the client directly from my new Irish company.

    What are the implications of doing this. Does anyone know if the same, minimum wage payment, claim valid expenses, and take remaining profits as dividends, works the same way in Ireland as the UK.

    thanks in advance

    Like who? I don't profess to know the depths of offshore agencies and their inner workings.

    You could also use an offshore agent to process your invoices.
