    Wouldn't be so sure. The original buyout may have had conditions attached to the shareholding that keep the risks (and also the profits, if any) within the buyout group for a given period.

    I think legal advice is the first step. It may well be as simple as resigning and keeping the shareholding intact, but a friend of mine was part of a team that did a buyout some years back and he was locked in for quite a long time (although in his case that wasn't an issue)

    management buyout any experts?

    My wife is part of a management buyout team at the company she works for so the management each old a certain amount of shares, the company has seen steady growth and will be floated in the next few years.

    Due to our young family not being compatible with what the company expects from her she wants’ out but she doesn't know if she can retain the shares if she leaves? It’s difficult to approach someone at the firm without raising suspicion about her intentions.

    Anyone had experience of this?
