I recall a number of posts in the PCG where folks with company credit/debit cards had probs returning items due to "company supplies" being excluded from refund policies or sumfink like that.

Negative expense claim works just fine.

Cheers for all the answers. In the end, the refund wasn't necessary because the problem with he product was resolved.

The same happened to me, however it was only for about 90 quid.

Our accountant told me to record the refund and put the money into the company bank account from my personal bank account as I couldn't transfer the credit balance from my credit card to the company bank account.

Or you could 'forget' to mention it, unless pulled up on it by your accountant.

I keep forgetting to give my deposit back to the company after renting accommodation away from home and (legally) claiming expenses for it.

So far after about 7 years (off and on between staying in hotels etc), never had it mentioned, despite having an IR investigation into expenses in that period and being cleared of any wrong-doing.

Depends how easy you think they'll spot the refund, if it's nowhere near your company accounts.

Am on VAT flat rate so this shouldn't affect me I guess.

Darn it, knew I should have just used the company debit card.

Exactly - its easier to buy anything you can return from the company money directly.

Stuff such as meals that cant can be done from personal money and claimed.
