You really don't get what people here are telling you, and what we all know about brollies, they have dispensations and allowances this does not mean that you can claim them all without receipts for you to show any inspectors that may want to investigate you.

I have understood that from the first time I read it.
What I don't understand is your persistant rablings about the fact that they do not allow you to claim unreciepted expenses when clearly they do.
Anyway, as none of this actually matters to me, and I was just making the point so any newbies reading this thread don't fall into the old ubrella trap of claiming the max without reciepts, and I think that point has now been made, I won't harp on about it

The point is that they have laid the page out in a way that will cause anybody who skims over it to misunderstand it. I would be very surprised if this is not done purposly to make it seem like they offer you more money than other umbrella companies.
What they should have said is:
We have a dispensation with HMRC so you can claim up to *26 per day without showing us your recipts, you will however have to show your recipts to HMRC in the case of an investigation so make sure that you retain them.
Nice and easy, unambigous and giving you the facts in a clear an consise manner that cannot be misunderstood.
Why have they not done this?? Well because they want people who skim read to think that if they go with them they can claim *26/day without worrying about receipts of course.
You can argue that the information is there (which it is), but the fact still remains that thier page is laid out to give the impression that they are offereing more than others when it comes to thier expense policy. This IMHO is quite sneaky and doesn't really encourage me to trust them.

correctOriginally posted by SueEllen View PostYou need to read the full page to intepret what they are stating clearly. (Fun with the English language and all that.)
They are stating you can claim unreceipted expenses but only when you can't obtain a reciept.
The only time you are likely not to have to be able to get a receipt is when you are buying something from a vending machine or a market stall. All shops will give you a receipt if you ask.
rob do you understand that..

What I am bothered about is people claiming that a brolly is not telling you to claim unreceipted expenses when they clearly are.....

Jeez! It's 40p odd.
But I think the real reason is because if you are at home the Newspaper won't be soley for yourself. It's like broadband, Mobile line rental and landline connection. They won't be used 100% by yourself, for the contract.
That's my guess.
Then again I'm sure you could argue, "What if you live on your own and have no friends"?
**** it, Its 40p

I can't think of many times when I have incurred a cost of up to £26 where a reciept cannot be obtained.
As for the newspaper thing. You could argue that you have one delivered at home which you pay for on a weekly basis. While away you have to buy another copy - hence the extra expense.

Thats basically saying that they have a dispensation and you can claim without them having to see the receipt.
And it clearly states below that they ask you to keep all receipts.... not missleading in my eyes.

Mate seriously.... i aint got time to argue about a newspaper which might cost 40pOriginally posted by Bluebird View PostHow come a "newspaper" is incidental expense when staying away from home - do you usually just browse in your local newsagents without buying ?
but you might buy a paper when your away from home, but when your at home with the family etc you might not have time to read a paper thus buying one is unlikely.
