I'm over at Heathrow on contract. I don't currently stay over, but I did look at the options as I may need to on occasion. The Bluebelle Mansion looks OK for a small B&B and the rate is pretty modest. Anyone stayed there?

Normally, client's pay the same rate to everybody regardless of their personal travel arrangements. The fact that this is an away from home gig is the contractor's problem, not the client's.

If he thinks you're going to turn the job down, the agent might be prepared to pay a bit over the odds out of his margin, but I doubt that there is going to be 100 quid a day available.

Agreed - which is why I would quote a single inclusive rate.

I've used the high cost of hotels in an area to negotiate a higher rate with the agent come renewal time. Even though I was sharing a flat with a fellow contractor at the time.

Second for me every time, assuming that the expenses are likely to be static - which in your case they are. You want £z to do the job at that location, so your quoted rate should be £z.

When I was near Heathrow, though a bit further south, I found Travelodge to be cheapest without being an absolute dive. Full online booking and good discounts if you book in advance.

Aye. I have decided that £100 a day extra ought to cover it.

Will see how much I can wangle re: home working as I really dont want to stay in London for a day longer than nessecary.

I know it (and it's sole occupier)...it's a bit away from the main hotels etc on Bath Road.

Not sure about where to stay within walking distance, should you not fancy driving / parking every day. That said, public transport is excellent around Heathrow (well, relative to most of the country), with the added advantage that lots of free buses.

You're certainly pretty close to the Premier Travel Inn on Bath Road. I've only stayed there a couple of times, but as budget chain hotels it's not bad. Way better than the IBIS just down the road.

You're also walking distance from Hatton X, so if you could face the tube everyday that gives you more options.

If I was in your shoes, I would either:
    1. Stay in a decent hotel with good facilities, gym etc - e.g. Rennaissance on Bath Road.
    2. Rent somewhere in a smaller town / village a short drive away (e.g. Beaconsfield, Windsor). Or into London, e.g. Richmond.

Both would be covered by your £80/day figure.

If you want to go for the lower end of the market, people I know have rented bedsits etc around Heathrow - loads of them advertised and some are cheap (you get what you pay for!)

Depends what you want to do in your evenings / if you are staying weekends etc.
