What you can't do legally is tax yourself as if you were working in the UK. You may get into trouble with the tax authorities in the country where you're working.

I would suggest contacting Sue B. She's very knowledgeable about cross-border working.

Working from EU while doing remote contracting in the UK
I am not a contractor but I am considering different options and I was wondering if I could get some advise here, or if anyone has such experience some first hand info even if possible.
Assuming I have a ltd company registered in the UK and I offer my services in the UK, is it possible to live in EU and work from there? I'm guessing things can get complicated in case of financial services because of extra confidentiality etc, but what about other businesses, assuming there are such companies who would not care?
I am basically wodering if it is possible at all from legal/tax point of view. It may be better to ask an accountant, but I thought I start here. I'm assuming this would an option possible to consider only in case of outside IR35, but perhaps I'm wrong?
I've lived in the UK for many years but I am a citizen of an EU country (so I have the right to work in EU) and I'm considering moving for a bit or for a bit longer back to where I'm from. The question is...
If anybody has this kind of knowledge I'd grateful for sharing.Last edited by engineerer; 19 May 2023, 08:35.
