Once my accountant has filed this years company return and my personal return, how much longer should we ideally keep the accountant s services going ?

Also he’s always provided me copies of company accounts but never the actual workings .. I was thinking of asking him for the same and wanted to know if there is any other documentation I should ask him for before eventually stopping his services .

    Thanks a lot

Well, the first thing to check is whether you are paying the accountant a monthly fee or a 1/12th of a yearly fee per month. If it's the latter, then you'll be paying at least until the end of your contractual year with them. If it's the former, then you can stop paying them when you want.

Make sure you've left enough money to pay HMRC their pound of flesh for the year.

After that you will only need them for personal tax.

They won't provide you with their working papers.
