It should be relatively painless to switch to a new provider and a proactive approach would be to work with both you and your outbound accountant to collect all relevant data. Some providers will also offer to catch up with any remedial / outstanding work without charge

If you're using FreeAgent, switching will be a doddle. If you're using their own bespoke portal, it will be more effort, as you'll realistically need to re-do a fair chunk of your bookkeeping data too.

Should be much less painful that sticking with one that isn't working for you.
I haven't used their portal but getting your data out shouldn't be a problem and getting it in to FA less so. Have a chat to FA accountants about how they'd import it when you chatting with them.
Lots of advice in these threads including watching out for exit payments. It's not always just a matter of ending your monthly payments as it's more structure around monthly payments of a year fees so might cost a bit more than you expect.

SJD book keeping portal
Much has been written here about SJD the constant changing of accountants (just had my 3d one in a year).
I moved from their spreadsheet to the portal 2 years ago. It looks like they keep messing things up in their portal. Company year ends, Salary slips, VAT returns.
You ask them to fix it and suddenly there is something else wrong. Fed up now. How easy is it to change mid company year to another accountant?Tags: None
