    I'm currently a BA and I've been asked if I'd like to additionally accept Product Owner responsibilities for the DMA trading platform.

    The course is a Product Owner course, delivered by an external company and is a requirement for the new role.

    With this in mind, how best to tackle the training issue?

    And you are probably spot on but then we won't have to chance to look at the details of whatever legislation it covers and wax lyrical about how why when it applies, however disconnected from reality it is.

    They will have mandatory courses but they often send their guys on new tech courses like Azure admin which a contractor clearly shouldn't be expected to attend on behalf of the client. That's why I think the details of what the course is is key to this discussion. I don't think it does any harm to understand why you shouldn't be going on these courses. Once you've got that then you can decide what the risk is to just go along with it,

    I'd worry that you are being treated like an employee so you've already got a problem irrespective of who's paying for this course.

    Currently on client site and they're insisting I go on a 2-day course, for which they will pay for.

    What's the best way to tackle this from IR35 perspective?

    Book and pay for the course myself and expense it to the client?

    Suggestions welcome.
