If you're having trouble getting cover, speak to a market broker such as Aon. They will know someone who will take on the risk.

Yes, is the answer. You won't be covered otherwise and if you drop that expensive rack mounted server...Originally posted by ASHGOONThanks all - what about the date?

£400 may seem expensive, but if its a requirement to getting the gig its much more costly to walk away for the sake of £400.Originally posted by Cowboy BobRandall Dorling wouldn't even quote for me (a few years ago now, they might do now) as I'm involved in financial transactions. I ended up with Caunce O'Hara - http://www.caunceohara.co.uk/ - they might be cheaper depending on what you do.
If its a 3 month contract (60 days) you only need to up the rates by £6 a day to cover it (and then you get the next 9 months free). You probably waste that in Starbucks each day, I know I can.
Remember sometimes to make a lot of money you need to spend some first.

Just been told by the agency I need all of the above. So I've joined the PCG quickly (140 quid!!), and they advised to go to randelldorling - but they are quoting me £400 even as a PCG member!! This is suddenly getting very expensive!!

Does your contract state that you need £1M prof indem ins?
If not, then for £200 (approx) you can have £100,000 with access to a shared pot of £2M (£1M claim limit)
£1M seems excessive but it depends what you do.

Am I missing something? Need the following:
Professional Indemnity : £1 Million
Combined -
Public Liability : £5 Million
Employers Liability : £5 Million
Is this excessive? Do I need to be looking elsewhere?
Also, when do I need the insurance to start - the date the contract starts?
