Previously on "HMRC Self Assessment compliance check letter"
I'm assuming you did your SA and not your accountant? Would be a good idea to see if they offer this service in the future.
You are being investigated for tax fraud, they are doing a compliance check and are questioning your figures. You need to check your paperwork if you still have it or ring them for a copy and just find out what the situation is first. Did you put them in or not. From that you should be able to speak to them and sort it.
I think I have spotted a silly mistake in my SA.. Instead of specifying the employers name I specified my name... The figures are correct but it's the name

Thanks, I did put the T&A figure on my SA and I have double checked it in the SA copy that I have. And you are right,I should have asked my accountant to do the SA instead of me doing it...

I have received a self assessment compliance check letter from HMRC for discrepancies related to T&A allowance. As far as I recall, I have declared the T&A amount on my tax returns but in the letter from HMRC, they are saying it's not been declared and they have asking for £3k as unpaid tax
I have couple of question and would greatly appreciate if someone who has experienced this in past can answer
1. Am I being investigated for tax fraud?
2. Should I contact HMRC and explain this or should I get a specialist?
