Over the years I have become more and more familiar with the applications.

It is not necessary to know the app to dev the system but you do get to know it.
When I see TV footage from cockpits I know what it is showing and know what has been blanked. I could (with a couple more hours help from an expert) fly back seat in a tornado. I am familier with a number of weapons systems.

I am not qualified to give the above advice!
