I assume that because no-one commented on my removals quote that everyone thinks that two and a half grand is a decent price to move 4 miles up the road?

If they are doing the packing and you have a 5 bed house, then it's OK.

Insurance is all well and good but i have a number of items that are irreplaceable.

Then either move those yourself or get some stupid level of insurance on those specific items.

Hang on. You've got a 2 year old AND irreplaceable items? Stop worrying about them. Within 2 years they will be destroyed anyway.
