They didn't offer the chance for DD1 as she was a forceps delivery so the consultant delivered her, cut the cord, announced it was a girl, and stuck her under a heating lamp while the paediatrician checked her out.
Meanwhile, consultant was piecing the Mrs back together as the midwives mopped the blood off the floor.
I did get handed BB1 after the birth whilst Mrs Bear was whipped off to surgery to be pieced back together.
