They didn't offer the chance for DD1 as she was a forceps delivery so the consultant delivered her, cut the cord, announced it was a girl, and stuck her under a heating lamp while the paediatrician checked her out.

Meanwhile, consultant was piecing the Mrs back together as the midwives mopped the blood off the floor.

I didn't get the option with BB1 either - not that I particularly wanted too. I'll stay away from that end with BB2 as well.

I did get handed BB1 after the birth whilst Mrs Bear was whipped off to surgery to be pieced back together.

Just me and him in the room for about an hour - we had quite a chat!
