This is definitely not as pretty as it needs to be.

Back in the days when we used coding sheets, this sort of thing used to be easy.

But then, that was back in the days when if you wanted to be producing reports, you used a reporting language.

Hence my reference to COBOL: damned easy to produce tabular reports.
