Lay the floor - I might do it, or get an man in..
And go on holiday while they do it
We had a new boiler put in to replace the two old ones last September, so took the family away for the week while it was fitted. Meant that we weren't there without heating and hot water, and he could come and go as he needed to to get the job done.
Came back to a nice warm house, all sorted.Comment

I made sure with the plumber that I got a good one, with lots of recommendations, and booked him up a while in advance. I also told him that he'd get the job of refitting the bathroom if I was happy with his work, which I will do (when we determine what we want in there!).
When I had the cellar converted, builder fleeced me completely. It was a VERY expensive mistake, but one I know I won't make again.Comment
