Seriously, nowadays company names change quickly, things move on quickly, people's preferences change quickly; reputation counts for very little these days. That's how all those corporate management wonks can be paid a million to bugger off by one company and then turn up at another company the next week and drive that into the ground too. And it's how banks can bankrupt half the world, get rescued by taxpayers and then carry on as if nothing happened.

One thing became very clear to me when I spent about a year working on 'reputation' and becoming an 'authority', culminating in the rip roaring success of being paid off by a poncey consultancy after 3 and a half months; it doesn't count for much. Invoicing does.

Not for me, for me time is more valuable than anything, I can invoice 4 days with good will and spend the 5th day with my kids, no brainer in my eyes.

(It also helps that 4 days billing here is more than I was billing in 5 days at my last gig)
