Depressing news from Dubai this morning

At one point yesterday it looked like we were going to be going over a main manhole which according to the new rules of October 2011 is an automatic denial of building works.

IMO it should be an automatic denial. Well at least without an inspection chamber.

Our neighbours recently got a blocked drain and asked if they could use our manhole as they have a conservatory on theirs. However there is only a manhole every 4 houses. Of course you don't need planning permission for a conservatory - but I would have put an inspection chamber in.

Friends have a well in their living room and have turned it into a feature.....
