Just had a feckwhit esteemed customer turning the bnc connector on the scope round and round and round*.
Seemd to get a bit upset when I told him to fecking stop it.
Brainless.
He's the one who finds that all the maths is "much too elementary".
* A quarter turn to the right is normally sufficient. I don't know how you can turn it further than that.Comment

Email last night with a new issue that they've spotted
But, in their infinite wisdom, they have decided that
this doesn’t have to be a show stopper to get this in by next weekComment

So, without knowing what the issue was, what caused it, how often it is likely to happen, and how to resolve it if it does happen, they have decided that they should go live with the problem.

I now:
- know what the problem is - an error gets thrown, but because of the way that the procedure was written by the earlier developers, the problem gets hidden
- what caused it - there's a bug in the code
- how often it is likely to happen - reasonably frequently, particularly over the Christmas period
- how to resolve it if it does happen - you can't. If it happens, you need to hack the system to abort the process and restart it, hoping that the problem doesn't happen again

This is GOOD NEWS. It will now make a great big mess in production and you can invoice for sorting it out.Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostSo, without knowing what the issue was, what caused it, how often it is likely to happen, and how to resolve it if it does happen, they have decided that they should go live with the problem.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

This part of the company isn't paying for my time any more - I don't think they realise that, though.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostThis is GOOD NEWS. It will now make a great big mess in production and you can invoice for sorting it out.
Also, after next week, I'm down to providing a minimum of 8 more days before January 13th when the contract expires.Comment

Have you not told the part that isn't paying that you're not working for them anymore?Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostThis part of the company isn't paying for my time any more - I don't think they realise that, though.
