    I've still got one.

It doesn't work any more though.

Dead as a doornail the last time I plugged it in.

I'll never hear that hideous racket ever again.

I've got a can of "Ribbon Refresh" somewhere or other too.

        And some spare ribbons.

My latest miracle is now more or less complete.

It's an infrared remote controlled buggy thingie.

          It doesn't use any microcontrollers.

          Or programming thereof.

It's all analogue electronics, with a driver chip glued on the end.

7 off 555 timers, 1 for 38kHz (the carrier frequency), and 6 from 1kHz to 3kHz that do the commands, a hex inverter connected in wire OR, and 6 pushbutton switches.

6 off 567 tone decoders, a 38kHz IR receiver thingie, and an L293D driver chip, and 8 1n4148 diodes for the diode/resistor logic.

Would have helped if I'd read the datasheet for the L293D as I was building the damn thing.

            Pins swapped.

            Ooops.

            No damage done though.

I can't get over the way TPD II has suddenly burst into life.

Next thing you know, we'll have Diver posting here again.

I refer the honourable gentleman to the comment I made some moments ago.

                      Isn't that just WD40?

That's what I used to use.

Or print on carbon paper onto a blank sheet.
